This EP was born of several songs I had put together in late 2021. I wanted to create soundscapes that evoked a time and a place, and as I kept creating, I found that in my mind, the idea of a series of small islands, an archipelago, felt the most appropriate. These songs tell a story where the plot is open to interpretation - are we lost amongst the islands? Is it paradise? Is it purgatory? These questions might come up as the listener journeys through the textures and sounds. On the EP’s final track, the nearly 10-minute ‘Archipelago’, the listener gets taken into a deep abyss. Complex layers of field recordings, synthesizers, acoustic and electric guitars, and even melodica create a lush and slightly ominous immersion into the land of many islands. I hope you take a moment to get lost as well.
